flat Xptrails

Recommended Posts

By flat, do you mean flat shaded like the default standard XP material (i.e. no cycles4D)?

Directly, you can't since Cycles4D is a physically based material. As a workaround, you try using only an emissive material. That will give off its flat look.

To do flat ribbon like trails you have two options. 1: Open up Cycles 4D rendering settings, in the Curve Rendering section, under Curve Shape change that to Ribbon. This is a hacky solution and is probably not what you want. It renders the flat part of the ribbon towards the camera at all times unless you are head on facing the trails with them coming towards the camera. 2: This one isn't Cycles 4D specific, put your xpTrail generator inside of a sweep along with a rectangle that is flat and wide. Now you will get a ribbon like look on your trails or any other shape for that matter.

Interesting idea of xptrail inside a sweep. i may play with that later I did want flat-ish ribbon type objects, which of course you can do with sweep.
