Splines "explode" on export

I have a scene that renders correctly in the preview window, but when I export the image using the picture viewer the splines are rendered incorrectly (see attached image 01). If I move one object from the top of the layer manager to the bottom, it renders correctly (see attached image 02). Any possible reason why it would look right in the preview window, but not on export? Is there a setting that I might be missing in the render settings?

Thanks for the info. I tried everything but unchecking perfect sphere :-)

I also recently discovered that on textures, having "Tile" checked in C4D texture tag messes up the tiling of textures when they are scale down. A line appears at the boundary.
